The kindness and generosity of people that we met on our travels continues to challenge me, even years after returning home. One couple whose house we couched-surfed at gave us more than a place to stay. They opened up their life for us, fed us, shared their thick wetsuits, surfboards, car and introduced us to their friends and family. We’d drink coffee, explore, get boards from a friend of a friend’s stone hut on our way to the beach and surf empty waves. Their life was an uncomplicated one, they lived in a hut with one dog and one sheep, and were amongst a close creative community of friends who looked out for one another. We felt drawn to this way of living, we almost stayed - but home was calling louder.
